After everything Furia Powers has gone through in the past 24 issues, it has come down to this…
One last fight with an old enemy.
But will this be Furia’s last fight?
Find out in this extra-long final issue of the series.
Issue #25 of “Furia and the Guardians” will be the last issue of the series, so it’s only right that some very special things happen in this issue.
One of the things that will happen will be the return of a long-lost Guardian.
Katie Lea Powers, otherwise known as Lyon Powers, has been away since she was attacked by the vengeful Isea. Readers may remember that confrontation in “The Libra Order: Debts of Honor”, and as was shown in subsequent issues of “Furia and the Guardians”, Lyon hasn’t been the same since.
Cursed from the specific nature of Isea’s assault, Lyon has been in the family home in Cardiff, trying to handle the painful sporadic overload of her elemental powers. Her absence has been felt by her two adopted sisters, Galatea and Furia. Since Lyon had been living with Galatea for a few years, the sudden decision to give her room to Furia came as a shock, but both Powers women also could understand Lyon’s decision and hoped she would return.
Now Lyon Powers, the Welsh lioness, comes back to Paragon City just in time for Furia to face her greatest challenge yet. But can she help Furia when she needs it the most?
Find out on September 29th when “Furia and the Guardians” #25 goes live!

The cops that make up the Blue Dog Squad think themselves as untouchable. They’re part of the system, and the system takes care of itself.
But this is Paragon City we’re talking about, otherwise known as the “City of Heroes”, and the heroes are making a case against the Blue Dogs and their criminal abuses.
So what do the Blue Dogs do to make that problem go away? They make the complainers go away. They’ve done it before, and they want to do it again.
But do you really think the Guardians of the Dawn will let that happen? Find out!
Ready for a taste of Issue 24 of “Furia and the Guardians”?
Here’s a news report for you…
While this otherwise sad report seems innocent enough, a certain dark vigilante knows there’s more going on that the local media is not reporting…
But why would the news media withhold something so shocking? Could they be part of the same “conspiracy” that is protecting the corrupt cops?
And what does it mean for those heroes that also witnessed the corrupt actions of McCade and his Blue Dog Squad? Would they be silenced as well?
Find out when “Furia and the Guardians” #24 goes online on July 28th!

BATTLEROCK COMICS
For Immediate Release
“Furia” To Step Aside For The Greater Group
GEORGIA – (June 17, 2017) – Battlerock Comics has announced that comic series “Furia and the Guardians” will end with issue #25. Writer/Creator/Editor/Publisher David 2 says the decision to end the series featuring the purple-haired superhero has mostly to do with the kind of stories being developed rather than any perceived lack of interest.
“When you have a title like ‘Furia and the Guardians’, it’s sort of implied that Furia would take a lead role in the comic. But of late, many of the stories being developed for the comic have focused on the ‘Guardians’ part. And the future stories under consideration show a greater emphasis on those other characters than on just the one who happens to be specifically named in the title. So it’s natural to want to transition the comic to one that features that greater group.”
“Furia and the Guardians” #25 will feature Furia Powers, the former hero from the Praetorian Universe that has been struggling to survive in the so-called “City of Heroes” as both a hero and as a civilian.
“It’s only right that the last issue of the series be predominantly Furia’s,” said David 2. “And it’s going to touch on a few things that have affected Furia and even helped define her as a hero since the very first issue.”
According to David 2, Issue #25 will involve an old adversary making a return for one last battle against our main heroine.
The real question, then, is who that adversary would be.
“Furia has faced people from two different universes and from two different planets. From her fellow Praetorians Matt Burke and Neuron, as seen in ‘The Guardian Powers’, to Destitution, to telepathic clockwork robots, to cybernetic punk gangsters, to the corrupt cops in the Paragon City police force, and even with aliens from her appearance in the COX Comics series ‘The Crucible’. There’s no real lack of villains for her.”
David 2 says that readers should not feel sad, though, about the series ending.
“Issue #25 is something of a milestone for Battlerock Comics. We’ve had only one other comic reach this point, which was ‘Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight’, and it happened to feature Furia’s other-universe sister, Galatea Powers. So we’re going to end this in a way that I think people will like. And then we’ll get ready for the larger series next year.”
Following the publishing of “Furia and the Guardians” #25, there will be a mini-series called “Task Force: Twilight”, which will feature several members of Furia’s superhero group, the Guardians of the Dawn, as they deal with their ongoing battle with the city’s corrupt police officers. After that, the focus will then turn to that new group series that has yet to be given an official title yet but will be released in early 2018. More information about these new series will be available at the Battlerock Comics website.
“Furia and the Guardians” is a fan-made not-for-profit comic series which uses material derived from the now-defunct “City of Heroes” MMORPG through a combination of other programs including Titan Icon, Paragon Chat, GIMP, and demo-recording. It is published for free by Battlerock Comics, a comic subsidiary of Get Brutal Productions.

Part 2 of Mindy’s Story Is Now Online in “Furia and the Guardians” #23

(Please click on the cover or this link to download the PDF file from MMO Comic Index.)
As our heroes learn the truth about the young hero Streetangel, we also find out what happened to Mindy Harrison after she was expelled from Freedom Corps that would eventually lead her to serving as the operations assistant to the Guardians of the Dawn.
What is Mindy’s secret?
And how does it connect to one of the most dangerous enemies that the Guardians ever faced?
The answers will surprise you!
Superheroes have a traditional habit of making enemies, and not just the supervillain variety. It’s an occupational hazard for them.
And sometimes the really worst of the bunch are the ones without powers.
In “Furia and the Guardians” #23, the resident “investigator” for the Guardians of the Dawn superhero group does some investigating on the weird twists and connections involving a new hero named Streetangel. When all indications point to the U.S. Marshals and their Federal Witness Protection Program, it’s up to Jason Knight to see if it’s true.
But what he finds is something completely unexpected.
For those who are new to the world of the Guardians, Simon Barrister is an old nemesis of the supergroup.
A corporate specialist hired by Lord Lee Geddy of the Rocinante Group, Barrister was tasked with destroying the Guardians, and he came close to doing just that. With help of the traitor hero StarCygnus, Barrister got his hands on all of the secrets of the group and was prepared to sell them on the black market to the highest bidder. It took a small group of Guardians led by John Cole to reacquire the information.
Then, with help from Europe’s greatest investigator, Shodden Freud, Jason Knight hunted down Barrister and brought him to justice.
So what does Barrister have to do with the current mystery surrounding Streetangel?
You’ll just have to wait until May 26th for the answer.
But in the meanwhile, feel free to brush up by reading some of the issues of “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight”, especially issues 10, 14, 17, and 28, and find out why Simon Barrister would give any hero pause.
When “Furia and the Guardians” #22 comes out next week, readers may feel more than just a little twinge of Deja Vu.
The issue focuses primarily on Mindy Harrison, the “Girl Friday” of the Guardians of the Dawn. Until recently, she was very dependable for the group. But for the past few months, she’s been conspicuously absent from Guardian Base, and people are starting to wonder why.
As mentioned in a previous post, the character of Mindy Harrison was inspired by the “Super-Friends” character Wendy, so the question would be if there is a “Wendy”, is there a “Marvin”? The answer, of course, is yes. But this is not the bumbling, fumbling, Shaggy-with-a-cape from the Saturday Morning cartoon. This “Marv” will get her attention in a different way. One that hearkens back to another superhero TV series. One that will have you hum… “Believe it or not…”
This issue also marks the first encounter between Furia Powers and the new “cop on the block”, Lawhawk. Given her history with the city’s law enforcement, though, one has to wonder how this “rookie” would handle Furia.
Plus, we learn a little more about the other mysterious young woman in Paragon City, namely the young hero Streetangel. Last issue, she was having her own hassles with certain notorious members of the PCPD. She was looking for revenge, but now there are at least two people looking for her. Who will find her first? And what will they find out about her?
Find out next week!
For the past few years that the Guardians of the Dawn have operated in Paragon City since their “resurrection”, they’ve enjoyed the support of a special “Girl Friday” by the name of Mindy Harrison. She’s the one that has kept the operations office moving through the transitions from Icon Powers to the temporarily-re-activated Libertarian Avenger and then to Ryder Lightning, the group’s current operations manager. She helped with the expansion not only in the ranks of the team but also in the expansion of the base itself.
But very little is known about Mindy, other than she was brought over by the group’s patron: Wentworth’s Fine Consignment CEO Andrew Wentworth.
And now, with the presence of Vanguard special investigator Carlton Sage taking a close look into the group’s activities, Mindy is nowhere to be seen. Why? What connection is there between the two of them?
Well, that connection will be revealed in a two-part storyline in “Furia and the Guardians” starting in March.
Writer and creator David 2 says that the character of Mindy was inspired by several figures in comic book history.
“Right off the bat some people will see similarities to Wendy from the 1970’s ‘Super-Friends’ cartoon, and that’s intentional. Wendy seemed to be the one character that was underrated even more than Aquaman simply because she was one-third of the whole ‘Junior Super-Friends’ comedy shtick. She was the brains of the trio, Marvin was the fanboy-idiot, and Wonder Dog was… well, your stereotypical Hanna-Barbera cheap comedic animal sidekick with a cape.”
He does point out, though, that “in all fairness she wasn’t the only female sidekick of the time. DC Comics also had Jean Loring, who was Ray Palmer’s super-smart girlfriend-slash-wife in ‘The Atom’, and Elongated Man’s wife Sue Dibny also wasn’t just a convenient damsel-in-distress. Sue was also an eager partner in her husband’s investigations as well as helping out the Justice League in several of their incarnations.”
“So really,” David 2 says, “Mindy is an amalgamation of those three characters.”
But if Mindy is connected to “Wendy” in the “Super-Friends” series, does that mean there is also a “Marvin”?
“Check out Issue 12,” he said, “and you’ll have your answer.”
Part 1 of “Mindy’s Story” will be told when “Furia and the Guardians” Issue 22 goes online on March 31st.
