When “Furia and the Guardians” #22 comes out next week, readers may feel more than just a little twinge of Deja Vu.
The issue focuses primarily on Mindy Harrison, the “Girl Friday” of the Guardians of the Dawn. Until recently, she was very dependable for the group. But for the past few months, she’s been conspicuously absent from Guardian Base, and people are starting to wonder why.
As mentioned in a previous post, the character of Mindy Harrison was inspired by the “Super-Friends” character Wendy, so the question would be if there is a “Wendy”, is there a “Marvin”? The answer, of course, is yes. But this is not the bumbling, fumbling, Shaggy-with-a-cape from the Saturday Morning cartoon. This “Marv” will get her attention in a different way. One that hearkens back to another superhero TV series. One that will have you hum… “Believe it or not…”
This issue also marks the first encounter between Furia Powers and the new “cop on the block”, Lawhawk. Given her history with the city’s law enforcement, though, one has to wonder how this “rookie” would handle Furia.
Plus, we learn a little more about the other mysterious young woman in Paragon City, namely the young hero Streetangel. Last issue, she was having her own hassles with certain notorious members of the PCPD. She was looking for revenge, but now there are at least two people looking for her. Who will find her first? And what will they find out about her?
