Seems like it was just yesterday that I had released Issue 2 of “Galatea Powers” and now I’m trying to get started on Issue 3.
However, I’ve encountered a snag.
All the comics I’ve been doing since “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight” have been done with the help of Microsoft Publisher. This was once a standalone program that was later integrated with Microsoft Office. It’s done an exceptional job all these years.
Well the idiots at Microsoft have decided that we don’t need Publisher anymore. They incorporated similar functions over to their other Office programs like PowerPoint and Word, so in their infinite ineptitude, they have commanded that Publisher be sunset in October and all the files we created using Publisher will no longer work.
That means that all of the work I put in with all of the Battlerock Comics publications will be destroyed.
I still have the PDF files of my past comics, but the templates and workbooks that I used for my comics are all on Publisher. So unless I can convert them to a PowerPoint template (which I’m trying to adjust to now), I’ll have to come up with new formatting.
Needless to say, Issue 3 will be the first comic created with PowerPoint instead of Publisher. It’s just a question of how much material will I be able to carry over and how much will need to be scrapped.
I can tell you that Issue 3 will have two new characters being introduced, with one of them appearing on the cover. The other will play an interesting role that could potentially reveal some dangerous secrets with Galatea and Prometheus Station.
And let’s not forget that Issue 7 of “Task Force Twilight” will be on the backside of this story. It’s the penultimate issue that will set the stage for an action-packed finale that will have implications not only for the characters, but also for all heroes in Paragon City.
That is… once I get this PowerPoint vs Publisher thing sorted. So please be patient.
