“Furia and the Guardians” #15 Delayed As Galatea Takes Center Stage
GEORGIA – 04/09/2016 – Readers of the online comic series “Furia and the Guardians” will have to wait another month before finding out the status of their favorite superhero team.
Battlerock Comics writer, editor, and publisher David 2 says that the delay in the publication’s release is for personal reasons and not connected with the ongoing storylines in the series.
“Every so often we need time to recharge our personal batteries,” David 2 said. “Fan-made comic creators have other obligations going on. While I enjoy making these comics, they don’t pay the bills. So when those other obligations demand more attention for a little while, you have to cut back on other things.”
It should be noted that the delay comes at a time when the central character in the series, Furia Powers, is sidelined by severe injuries following her encounter with the Paragon City Police Department, and with the events that are still unfolding in the “House of Sothis” storyline for “The Crucible” comic series over at CoXComics.com.
“Furia was still getting over what happened during her encounter with the Sirians,” said David 2. “She had pushed her powers further than she ever expected to push them. She managed to free herself from a crystal prison, which was something that even seasoned heroes could not do. She took on alien beings that were regarded as gods. And then on top of that, while her body’s still trying to recover, she had to take on two of Paragon City’s heavy-duty police divisions. That’s a lot of stress put on her, both mentally and physically. And as you saw in Issue #14, she paid a price for it.”
When the publication resumes on May 27th, the comic will temporarily change to “Galatea and the Guardians” as Furia’s adopted sister Galatea Powers takes center stage. David 2 says this change is storyline-related.
“It’s easy for us to think that superheroes can take any kind of punishment and just walk it off. And while online superhero games show characters being downed and then miraculously recovering someplace else a minute later, you can only push the level of disbelief so far. So Furia’s injuries will take her out for a while, which means Galatea will have to step up and resume her role as the city’s ‘true guardian’.”
Galatea Powers was the first hero seen in the “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight” series and was one of the central characters in “The Guardian Powers”. An alternate version of Galatea was the central character in the “Future’s Guardian” series, set in the world of Champions Online, and was the first publication under the Battlerock Comics imprint.
In addition to the temporary title change, the title image for the publication’s cover will also change.
“Galatea is taking center stage,” said David 2, “but Furia is still there in the background and when she gets better, she’ll be back. And as readers will find out, I’m sure Galatea will be glad to have the focus off her while she works on few ‘projects’.”
“Furia and the Guardians” is published online through Battlerock Comics and new issues are scheduled to be released on the last Friday of every month. Issue #15 featuring Galatea Powers is tentatively scheduled to be released on May 27th.
