Issue #2 of “Furia and the Guardians” will do more than introduce you to our mysterious new “threat” moving into Paragon City. It will also introduce you to another new hero.
Qualina is the creation of Damon H, aka Dam025 on deviantART. Damon is also a former City of Heroes player as well as a reader of Battlerock Comics publications. When he heard that the stories of the Guardians of the Dawn were resuming (thanks of course to the magic of Titan Icon and demorecording), he wondered if his character could make an appearance in the new series.
Of course this is not the first time that a deviantART character would appear in the comics. Longtime readers may recall when ExGemini, aka Nathan Furian, made his appearance in the pages of “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight” and later in “The Guardian Powers”. While Nathan himself will not be appearing in the new series in the immediate future (at least not in the way people remember him from the comics), we can say that Qualina will be appearing in more than just this one issue.
Or we hope she will… especially given who she is about to face off with.
That brings us to a little behind-the-scenes secret concerning Issue #2.
Sometimes there are songs that stir emotions simply by the music. No words, just music. Sometimes you hear a song played in a movie trailer and it pretty much does all the convincing for you that you have to see that movie.
One such performance group that can do that is the production company is known as Two Steps From Hell. They’ve been involved with trailer music for TV, movies, video games, even for athletic events.
I’ve been hooked on their music since I found out they were involved in the trailer for the 2009 revamped “Star Trek” movie. And when it came to their 2012 album “SkyWorld”, there was one song that just stood out for me.
Imagine a menacing threat making its appearance. Now picture this song playing in the background.
Two Steps From Hell’s “Dark Ages” pretty much set the tone for the climax of “Furia and the Guardians” #2. The build-up for the “threat”, its arrival to the city, and the attempts to stop it can all be envisioned in the first half of the song.
And the second half of the song? Well that’s for Issue #3…
“Furia and the Guardians” #2 will be released on February 27th.
The next chapters in the continuing stories of the heroes of Paragon City begins here!
It’s been two years since Furia Powers came to the “City of Heroes” from the Praetorian Universe, and she has found it difficult for her to adjust. In the world she knew, she was the last surviving member of the legendary Powers family, the daughter of the founder of the Powers Division, as well as a respected and admired hero in her own right. Now she lives in a world that eyes her with suspicion, that paints her with the same brush as the cruel tyrants that rule Praetoria.
How can she overcome that and prove she is every bit a hero as the other members of the Guardians of the Dawn?
However she does it, she better do it soon, as something is about to literally drop in that will be a shock to the city.
(Editor’s note: content editing in text only appears in preview image. The content is uncensored in the actual issue.)
Readers of “The Guardian Powers” know that Furia Powers came from the Praetorian Universe, a world where their greatest hero became a Machiavellian dictator, and the other heroes became his subordinates. Since the “heroes” in that world are considered “villains” in the “City of Heroes” universe, what does that make Furia?
That’s tricky, because we also know that Furia was helping the Resistance save the survivors of First Ward. And in “The Guardian Powers” we also know that she helped our heroes rescue a captured Midnight Arachnia, not mention take down one of Tyrant’s lieutenants. And since the Resistance are considered “evil” in that world, that would make Furia a “hero” in our world, right?
We also know from the end of “Guardians of the Dawn GRADUATION” #3 that it hasn’t been easy for Furia to adjust to life in the “Primal Universe”.
So what leads to her confrontation with the police? Has she turned to her “Praetorian” habits?
Or is this the case of the police going too far?
Find out on January 30th with the release of “Furia and the Guardians” #1!
The “lost time” seen in the three-part “Guardians of the Dawn GRADUATION”miniseries is seen from a different light as the agents of The Libra Order take over in their one-shot special!
Several years ago, certain heroes of the Guardians of the Dawn were allowed to impersonate agents of the mysterious cosmic force known as Libra for an important mission. While the mission was a success, it was not without incident. Now it’s time for those agents of the Libra Order to cash in on their “Debts of Honor”, and how they do it have devastating effects on the Guardians both in the past and in the future!
If you think you know what happened in “GRADUATION”, you may be in for a surprise! And be prepared for a surprise ending that will set the stage for the next comic series… “Furia and the Guardians”.
What happened to MidKnight X? What is causing him to attack Ryder Lightning? And if Ryder is not powerful enough to defend himself, who is able to help? And can they reach him in time?
Plus, will Lexie Lothora take up Lord Lee Geddy’s offer? And what did happen to Lord Geddy’s assistant?
And finally, what caused Icon Powers to leave the Guardians of the Dawn? And if Ryder survives the attack by MidKnight X, would he be willing to take Icon’s previous position in the group?
We’ve decided to do something different here at Battlerock Comics.
To help promote the forthcoming release of “Guardians of the Dawn GRADUATION” #3, we’re launching a new supplemental comic special… the PNN News Break!
So without further ado, here’s the first one…
Hope that piqued your interest in the comic…
Guardians of the Dawn GRADUATION #3 will be online on Labor Day, September 1st.
Ryder Lightning is back! After getting his new “sporty” look from Serge, Professor Bart Wallace has to sort through the changes made to the Guardians of the Dawn during his time away. This is certainly not the same base that he remembered! Nor is it the same team.
New heroes have joined the Guardians, and they come with new attitudes.
But at least one seasoned hero is suspiciously absent. Why?
And who has Lord Geddy selected to serve as his “proxy” in his new role in the Bilderburg Alliance? Find out here!
