When last we left Furia in the pages of “The Crucible”, she was being taken against her will to the Sirian homeworld for attacking royalty. Of course, she was defending herself, but that doesn’t matter to the Tut-bots that held her prisoner.
So how does she get out of that situation? Find out now, as Issue #20 is now online!
Happy New Year from all of us here at Battlerock Comics.
To start the new year, here’s a hint as to what to expect thanks to the Cryptic Chalkboard…
This is the same image you saw in the previews from “Furia and the Guardians” #11, and if you look carefully, you’ll notice that one of the entries has already happened. And another entry you’ll see manifested in a big way in the next issue.
But not everyone is in the holiday spirit. In fact, Furia Powers is acting a little like a hyper-powered Scrooge when it comes to the festivities. Can a certain ghost from Christmas Past brighten her mood? Find out!
For starters, following the tradition of releasing issues on the last Friday of the month, Issue #11 will be released on December 25th. You may recognize the date as being somewhat important for a good portion of the world. It’s that time when people are gathered around illuminated and decorated trees (that may or may not be made of plastic and wire) and opening up wrapped presents bought by people that went to near-bankruptcy to show their love… and later pondering if they should either re-gift them or sell them online.
It’s the time when there’s really nothing good on TV, and if you’re tired of paying $30 to theaters to watch the new Star Wars movie for the umpteenth time, then this is the perfect time to read online comics.
Having a comic released on Christmas Day also gives us a chance to do a holiday story, which is something we previously were not able to do. And thanks to some very creative people who brought us Titan Icon (from which we are able to continue our stories in “The City”), we were also able to get access to seasonable content. Here’s a sample of that content from two years ago thanks to Angelus Animi:
But it’s not all festive this year. Someone’s acting like a holiday Scrooge, and there’s a good reason why.
Will some holiday magic thaw this Scrooge’s heart? Find out!
“Furia and the Guardians” #11 will be released on Christmas Day, December 25th!
After all that’s happened in Paragon City this past year, it’s important for the heroes to get caught up on what they know about the attack by the super-powered villain named Destitution.
But they’re not the only ones getting updated on what happened and what they know. Lexie Lothora gets her own update on Destitution as she prepares for the next phase of her operation.
Plus, we finally get to look into the personal life of Furia Powers as she prepares for her first day at work as “Fiona Poderes”. How does this affect Jason Knight’s crusade against the abusive cops in Kings Row? Find out!
When last we saw her, she was in Atlas Park along with Ms. Liberty and a prototype robot when Egyptian-themed aliens arrived through the War Walls. The aliens made quick work of our heroes, encasing them in crystalline cubes.
But as readers of “Furia and the Guardians” know, that is the worst thing to do to the former Praetorian superhero.
Meanwhile, Synnamon Kitten finds out why Hunter is looking for Watcher Twelve. And speaking of, what is the multiverse-hopping cowboy up do in Atlas Park? Find out!
And be sure to check out David 2’s contribution to the story by way of the Paragon News Network!
And if you’re looking for some action, keep checking Furia’s presence in the “House of Sothis” storyline in “The Crucible” over at CoXComics.com! You will not be disappointed!
Jason Knight’s search for a missing Architect Entertainment employee takes a bad turn, and it exposes an even greater problem in the Paragon City Police Department. Will Jason have to take up a cause once championed by the Libertarian Avenger? And can he do so without his previous abilities?
Meanwhile, PNN reporter April Ramirez’s quest for justice hits a wall, and Furia’s visit to Vanguard leads her directly to the events in “The Crucible” #18 at CoXComics.com!
One of the things about comics is that they can serve as a reflection of our society. Not just as we would like to see things, but also a reflection of how things are at the time.
In the 1930’s and 40’s the comic publishers – still very much young – brought the troubles of the world into their pages. Their characters dealt with the global depression and the horrors of World War II. In the 1960’s they dealt with the struggles of civil rights. In the 1970’s, it was the battle with drugs. And after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the two big publishers found their own ways to deal with a world that was both scarred and scared.
It should come to no real surprise, then, that comics should deal with the recent rash of police abuses. DC Comics recently took some praise and flack when their iconic hero, who is now more “man” than “super”, took a stand against abusive cops in his own neighborhood.
And now you can add Battlerock Comics to the list of comics dealing with this issue.
In the upcoming Issue #9 of “Furia and the Guardians”, Jason Knight’s search for a missing Architect Entertainment employee takes a dark turn as he comes across a police officer who has a rather disturbing history. What Jason does next will help define his new quest to once again serve as the “Guardian of Kings Row”.
Can’t get enough of our purple-haired former Praetorian?
Then be sure to check out Furia’s appearance in “The Crucible” #18 over at CoXComics.com!
Nightstar, the Praetorian android, has popped up in Paragon City on a covert mission. Unfortunately for her, she has to deal with Ms. Liberty and the last person she ever expected to encounter… Furia Powers!
Unfortunately, she’s not the only “alien” to pay the city a visit.
