With Galatea’s multiverse past revealed to the United Nations Security Council, it’s time for Galatea to reveal just how powerful she is now, and how powerful she was before arriving in the universe of Champions. But with those revelations come secrets that Galatea has been hiding all this time.
Just how powerful was Galatea as a god-level incarnate?
What is her connection to Watcher Twelve from “The Crucible”?
Fans of “Future’s Guardian” know that Galatea Future is not only from another universe, two of them in fact, but she’s also from an alternate future, and that she’s over a thousand years old.
But for many in the world of Champions Online, they have only known Galatea as being from “the far future”. That’s the way that it’s been for the past ten years, ever since she first appeared in “The Lost Adventures of Galatea Future” Issue #1. The truth of her origins were kept a secret known only to a small group of people.
That has now changed. Recent events forced Galatea’s origins to be revealed to the United Nations Security Council, and they’re now insisting on full disclosure.
In Issue 20 of “Future’s Guardian”, Galatea’s attention will be divided between discussing her past and demonstrating her current abilities. This will take her from her days in the alternate timeline of “The City” to the moon with a familiar friend.
“Galatea’s time as an incarnate will be a covered in unusual ways,” said creator and editor David 2. “We’ve never really understood what it’s like to be powerful enough to be ‘god-level’. How strong is strong enough? How fast is fast enough? What is it like to have ‘hyper-intelligence’? Being on the level of gods changes your perspective of things. That really comes out when Galatea is talking with Doctor Silverback and he’s marveling about being on the moon, and she just finds the experience as boring.”
Issue 20 also gives readers the opportunity to see just how Galatea was able to recognize Watcher Twelve from “The Crucible”.
David 2 explains. “When Galatea confronts Watcher Twelve and Sinnamon Kitten in ‘The Crucible’ #36, she asks them if they’re hunters or scroungers. It’s something that only someone with multiverse experience would know, especially if they came across either one or the other. In this issue we learn just how she is able to recognize Watcher Twelve and why she thinks anyone wearing the device he has invites trouble.”
Galatea will also be tested on her current abilities, including her newest “beam vision” power. David 2 says this is something that isn’t really what she thinks it is.
“When she first unleashed her new beam vision in Issue #18, she knew there was something different about it. But she never really had the opportunity to test it. Now, in this issue, she’s able to do so with the help of Doctor Silverback and an old opponent.”
But that’s not all that comes out in this issue. There are certain secrets that Galatea didn’t want revealed, and they are the kind that could be dangerous if made known to certain groups.
What are those secrets?
You’ll have to find out when “Future’s Guardian” #20 goes online on Friday, April 30th.
Previously, Twelve and Synn had ended up in Millennium City, in the world of Champions Online, after narrowly escaping certain doom in the world of City of Heroes (with a little help from Furia Powers). Their first stop, though, was at Witt Energy Research Center, where Twelve liberated an unstable crystal. Soon afterward, they’re spotted by our Guardian hero, who intercepts them. Then the Witt Energy security people arrive and Twelve is mysteriously teleported away.
Twelve encounters Judge Nineteen, who orders Twelve to take him back to a place called “Tombstone Zero”. Twelve, however, has no idea what the judge is talking about, but he is willing to help Nineteen get his own navix device back. Meanwhile, Galatea and Synn are “invited” to meet with Professor Emil Witt.
It should be noted that these events take place prior to “Future’s Guardian” #18. In fact, they’re referenced a few times in Issue #19. And in “The Crucible” #38, Galatea discovers that Witt himself has something to do with some of her past adventures.
What an incredible multiverse these comic creators have woven!

Galatea Future has kept the truth about her origins a secret for almost a decade. A secret that was shared with only a very small group of people. And for a good reason. Because there are people like Captain Lynch who treat all extra-dimensional beings as threats. And Lynch just discovered Galatea’s little secret and has ordered her detained.
What can Galatea’s friends and allies do to help her? Or are they next to be detained?
Battlerock Comics brings quite a few surprises for Christmas Day this year, starting with the last release of “Future’s Guardian” for the year.
And what an issue it will be, according to writer/creator David 2.
“We start with Galatea Future in custody by Captain Lynch,” he said, “and right off the bat, we learn something about him that you would never expect.”
And that, according to David 2, is just the start of the surprises and revelations.
“There are going to be connections to past issues, and connections to Galatea’s current appearances in the CoX Comics series ‘The Crucible’, and they will each play a part in the story that will play out.”
In addition to Galatea’s predicament, there is a backstory involving Starlett, as well as the first appearance of a certain force that has been referenced in not one but two MMO universes.
One thing is for certain, said David 2. “Come the end of 2020, a lot of things will change.”
“Future’s Guardian” #19 will be online on Christmas Day, 2020.
Galatea Future’s encounter with the strange multiverse-travelling Watcher Twelve and his companion, Synnamon Kitten, continues in the most recent release of “The Crucible”.
When last we saw them, Galatea had confronted Watcher Twelve after spotting his Navix device. Being an experienced multiverse traveler and former time operative from a certain “City”, Galatea knew that no good comes from someone wearing a Navix. Soon afterward, they all encounter agents from Witt Enterprises, and Watcher Twelve disappears in a flash of light.
Issue 37 picks up right where the last issue left off, with Galatea having to calm down two feisty females before one of them nukes the Renaissance Center, and we find out just where Watcher Twelve vanished to and the secret behind his Navix device.
Galatea’s meeting with Watcher Twelve and Synnamon Kitten will have repercussions in the pages of “Future’s Guardian” as a certain agent will be alerted to her origins.
Back in “Future’s Guardian” #14, it was revealed that there were several versions of “Galatea” in the vast multiverse.
There is, of course, Galatea Future; the “original” incarnation originally shown in “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight” #0 and “The City’s Finest” #2, who goes on to become an Omega Incarnate, lives to become over a thousand years old, and then goes back in time to change things, becomes an anomaly in time, and is sent to the world of Champions Online to start her life over again.
Then there is the version of Galatea Powers whose life changed dramatically after her far-future alternate self changed things. Her whole life is changed down to the genetic level and she is also given a new life to live. She even gains a twin “sister” in the form of Leona Powers, the “original” version of Galatea as her supervillain genetic father designed her to be. Leona was even seen in a flashback in “Future’s Guardian” #13.
We can’t forget her Praetorian counterpart, Furia Powers. Not only did she make her way into the world of the City of Heroes, but she even had her own comic series; “Furia and the Guardians”.
And with “Future’s Guardian” #14, we are introduced briefly to a whole new “Galatea”… Galatea Quantum, captain of the U.S.S. Starreach in the world of Star Trek Online.
Sufficient to say, we have plenty of other alternate versions of “Galatea” just waiting in the wings to share. As long as there is an infinite number of universes, there are potentially that many women named “Galatea” waiting to be seen.
But for right now, we here at Battlerock Comics are curious as to which “Galatea” is your favorite. Since Galatea Quantum was only seen briefly in one issue (as of this post), we’ve excluded her from consideration. Same for Leona Powers.

It’s no secret that the character of Galatea Future and her other incarnations was inspired by a certain “super” family (among a few others). The perfect physique, the tights, the cape, flying, coming from an “alien” world (even if it is just an Earth from another universe… or two…), you can pretty much guess which hero is this creator’s favorite.
In the upcoming issue of “Future’s Guardian”, Galatea makes mention of a certain “super” movie, and one of the more symbolic scenes unique to that movie.
In case you didn’t get the reference, the movie Galatea that was referring to was the 2006 film “Superman Returns”, where one of the iconic scenes involved Brandon Routh’s title character listening to everything down below from orbit. While it was an eye-catching scene, it was physically impossible, as Galatea herself explained, even back when she was far more powerful your average tall-building-leaper.
The idea of Galatea “standing watch” over the city is a common theme for the character in pretty much any universe she is in.
And in “Future’s Guardian” #7, Galatea shares the wonder of the view with her friend Starlett.
Of course, standing atop buildings isn’t as great a visual as hovering over the city. Although it can also lead one to believe that the hero is less of a guardian and more of a self-appointed deity. That probably explains why more heroes stick to rooftops.
