For the past two issues, this strange woman claiming to be Galatea Future has been roaming the streets of Millennium City. But clearly she isn’t the Galatea we’ve known for over the past ten years.
Now the real Galatea is face-to-face with her “twin”. Who will prevail?
Plus ARGENT’s lawyer is looking for a certain android. Will she find what she’s looking for?
“Future’s Guardian” Issue 27 is scheduled to be online on May 17th.
Once again it’s time in the world of Champions Online that the people of Millennium City honor and celebrate their greatest supervillain ever!
Wait… what?
Yes, despite that he calls himself “the greatest supervillain EVER”, people do somehow love and appreciate Foxbat!
It’s not that he’s some kind of rogue anti-hero. Far from it. He engages in criminal capers. He robs, he cheats, he steals, and, yes, some of his antics have caused harm. He does have an army of loyal fans and robot minions that record all of their escapades and post them on social media.
So what is it about him that makes people want to celebrate him and have a whole convention devoted to him?
Marketing.
Foxbat managed to create an image around himself that could be marketed and sold as a TV series and movie series and even comic books. Yes, he has corny devices like ping-pong guns and oversized bubblegum traps and and slaps people around with foam fingers and trout, but he isn’t a mass-murderer like Doctor Destroyer or Mechanon. Yes, he tries to take over the local TV studio every other Tuesday, but he doesn’t threaten the lives of any of the personalities or try to take over the city with mass-hypnosis or some tech-based virus. Rather, he wants WCOC to air repeats of the old “Foxbat” TV show that somehow existed prior to him being born.
He’s a comical villain. Some would even say he’s a Saturday Morning cartoon villain. And in a world where the undead come back every Halloween and where corporate power executives and megalomaniacal super-robots and alien conquerors conspire to take over the planet and threaten global extinction, it’s rather refreshing to have a villain that’s not really evil, but just is one who chooses to call himself a villain. Even if it’s “the greatest supervillain ever!EVER!“
That said… who is this guy?
He certainly keeps himself busy. But he doesn’t look like the real Foxbat, does he?
Keep an eye on the pages of “Future’s Guardian” to find out who this guy really is.
Meanwhile, if you happen to visit Millennium City, Michigan (formerly Detroit), during this week and next, be sure to stop by the Renaissance Center and check out FoxbatCon! You’ll see old stars of stage and screen, devoted collectors, cosplay performers, and, yes, you’ll most likely catch the mayor and a few superheroes.

To start off the new year, we’ve brought back the Cryptic Messages.
The Cryptic Messages are an homage to the “chalkboard” messages in the DC Universe, where cryptic messages reference certain events that either have happened or will happen. The readers are then challenged to figure out what each message means.
Here at Battlerock Comics, the Cryptic Messages first appeared on chalkboards seen in “Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight”, but would eventually appear in other message boards throughout the other comics based in the City of Heroes MMO.
It’s been difficult to incorporate such a chalkboard in the world of Champions Online, but thankfully that isn’t the only medium available.
Having said that… we bring you the latest version of the Cryptic Messages… The Cryptic Screen.
As with the Cryptic Chalkboards, each message in the Cryptic Screen makes reference to something that either has happened or will happen in the pages of Battlerock Comics.
Notice there’s an entry that says “THE STORIES REPEAT” that is crossed out. That is a reference to a scene in “Battlerock Comics Presents” #4.
So the question is… what do the rest of the messages make reference to?
Keep checking with the Battlerock Comics website and find out as we soar in 2024!
DJ Matt (aka Ronin Omega) from “Future’s Guardian” has submitted the following for Christmas Day.
“As a traveler, I tend to visit different places. I’m lucky to have Miss Lady serve as my travel companion. She is curious, as all cats are, but she’s also very intuitive. She doesn’t stray too far from me when she joins me on walks.”
“This year I decided to stay in Millennium City, on Earth, for the celebration of Christmas. I’ve been to so many worlds and realities where this kind of celebration happens under different names and have different customs. But, on this world, the combination of traditions merged into one celebrated on one day makes it unique, and often something that is taken for granted when it comes to human travelers such as myself.”
“Miss Lady joined me as I took a stroll from our common travel home to the Renaissance Center. There were, of course, the usual threats. Some mad toyman leaving mysterious presents and various criminal factions trying to claim ownership of them or shaking down those who try to open those presents. A giant mechanical teddy bear menacing the city. I’ve even seen a gremlin or two roaming about.”
“And at the same time, I’ve also seen joy and merriment through the city. I’ve seen heroes engaging in snowball and taco fights instead of duels. Exchanging gifts instead of witty comebacks. And that feeling of joy and goodwill is reflected through the city especially on Christmas Day. I’ve even seen members of the New Purple Gang engage in acts of charity instead of their usual predatory ways.”
“Later today, Miss Lady and I will be joining John Battle and Starlett for a Christmas Day celebration. I’m told even our supervisor, Major Cross, will be joining us, which is rare since he usually spends the day with his family outside of the city. I’m sure it will be a great celebration for our little group.”
“Miss Lady and I wish you all Happy Holidays – in any way you say it and in any way you celebrate it.”
From all of us at Battlerock Comics, we want to wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays – in any way you say it and in any way you celebrate it.
Galatea Future is going head-to-head with the killing machined KI113R, whose armaments could possibly killer her.
Meanwhile, another being calling herself Galatea Future is roaming the streets of Westside.
Major Cross starts looking into who could have killed William Foswell, and Agent Peri Piper starts looking into who stole Galatea’s data that Foswell used to possibly create KI113R. And she is not the only one interested in Foswell’s creation.
We here at Battlerock Comics are happy to announce that Issue 26 of “Future’s Guardian” will be released earlier than expected.
While we normally plan issue releases on the last Friday of the month, we decided to release this early for the holidays.
“We were lucky in being able to get all of the material and story together during Thanksgiving,” said writer/editor/creator David 2. “This will give us the opportunity to get the story done and released with time for us to enjoy the holiday season before continuing next year.”
Issue 26 continues the four-part “Negation” story, where Galatea faces a being whose armaments could possibly kill her. While Galatea fights the monster, Major Cross looks into the murder of the monster’s creator, and FBI Agent Peri Piper looks into who provided the data that helped create the monster. And while all that is going on, another being calling herself “Galatea Future” is roaming the streets of Millennium City. Who is she?
“Future’s Guardian” #26 will tentatively go online on Friday, December 15th.
We here at Battlerock Comics want to wish our readers a Happy Thanksgiving to those that partake. And for those that don’t, Happy Thursday!
As you can see, we are busy working on Issue 26 of “Future’s Guardian”, with the hopes of having it released by the end of the year. A lot will depend on getting material before the folks at Champions Online switch over to Holiday mode, which would make getting outdoor scenes difficult. But we think it’s possible to get everything we need to get this issue ready for release.
So for those who partake, enjoy Thanksgiving, hopefully with family and friends and a big feast.
Maxima Wann and a group of heroes battle Takofanes in front of Champions Headquarters near the end of the Blood Moon Event
Following the events seen in the recent issue of “Battlerock Comics Presents” #4, the mystic specialist Maxima Wann did have her much sought-after fight with the Lich King Takofanes.
This occurred during the final week of the Blood Moon Event, when the dead rise and Takofanes and his minions can cross over to take over the world.
The conflict began when Takofanes was spotted alongside Champions Headquarters, sitting in his menacing hovering throne. To get to him, Maxima and the army of heroes she joined up with had to first defeat dozens of undead minions and their lieutenants. Only then did Takofanes take notice of them.
Although her own chaos magics were formidable when facing low-level foes, the Lich King’s own powers were no match for hers. Fortunately, Maxima was not alone in this conflict. Dozens of heroes, including some high-level mystics, were waiting along with Maxima for Takofanes to make his move.
The battle did not take long, and Takofanes was soon driven back to his realm.
Maxima and the others were thanked and rewarded by members of the Trismegistus Council for their victory.
Takofanes was defeated, but the Blood Moon Event was still going on, and as such the Lich King would have many more opportunities to try again.
From the pages of “Future’s Guardian” comes the story of a woman born to bring the end of the world.
For years, Maxima Wann was born and raised as a princess in a cult that believed she would deliver them to paradise. But when she turned sixteen, she discovered that her family and the people she trusted were really preparing her to bring about destruction. She was rescued, but at a terrible price.
Now she’s an adult, and during a time of the Blood Moon, when the shadow of evil exists everywhere, she’s being confronted by forces from that past.
The month of October is always the season of the Blood Moon in the world of Champions Online. When the night is eternal, the moon is always blood red, monsters are running rampant, and the dead rise.
And for one hero, the season of the Blood Moon is always a season of nightmares.
You may have seen Maxima Wann before. She just made her debut in “Future’s Guardian” #25 helping Elite Ice fight off VIPER soldiers.
“Maxima’s story is a troubled one,” said creator David 2. “This is someone who has lost everything she had and burdened with a power that she barely could comprehend, never mind control. And then she was sent to a school that pretty much treated her like a pariah.”
But if anything, Maxima enjoys this time of the year, as she can focus her anger and frustrations on the ghosts and monsters that come with the Blood Moon event.
(Maxima Wann facing off against a Trick-or-Treat monster in “Battlerock Comics Presents” #4)
“I really enjoyed developing Maxima”, said David 2. “She was originally a pastiche of several mystical figures, but over the past year I’ve been able to fine-tune her look and her abilities. It was only right that her story should be told during the Blood Moon Event.”
“Battlerock Comics Presents: Maxima Wann” Issue #4 will be online on October 27th.
